Maintenance Mechanic I - Facilities
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of complex technical maintenance, repair, installation, and alteration activities involving carpentry, plumbing, roofing, masonry, painting, mechanical, HVAC, and electrical trades work to improve, maintain, and renovate Curry Health Network (CHN) buildings, facilities, integral fixtures, equipment and related work as required.
Preforms preventative and planned maintenance. Expected to work independently, exercise judgment and initiative. Position receives instruction or assistance when new or unusual assignments arise and are expected to be fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the facilities department. Incumbents will be required to be on-call and to work various shifts on days, evenings, weekends, holidays and during emergencies.
Performs routine, urgent, and emergency corrective repairs, adjustments, alterations, and installations of network grounds, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, systems as required. Complete assigned preventive and planned maintenance tasks.
Complies with applicable Federal, State, JHA, local codes, and ordinances relevant to assignments. Inspects premises, facilities, and their various components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs or adjustments to minimize risk to the welfare of patients, employees, providers, guests, and assets.
Practices effective theories, principles, methods, and techniques. Uses equipment, materials, and tools efficiently as they apply to maintenance of facilities and equipment. Use of safety equipment and knowledge of occupational hazards related to assignments.
Maintains records of inspection, corrective action, or PM performed.
Supports the CHN mission and programs. Acts professional and appropriate using tact and diplomacy when communicating with all staff, guest, and community members.
Coordinates with staff for the purpose of completing projects and work assignments efficiently and with minimal interference to network operations.
Performs additional duties as required to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with CHN's Mission, Vision and Shared Values (including but not limited to moving supplies, furniture, replacing light bulbs, driving, removing trash or scrap material).
Minimum Education & Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and a trade-school or industrial diploma or certificate. Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
Three years of full-time journey-level skilled experience preforming construction, PM, and complex building maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
Maintenance of hospital equipment is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of the safe operating methods of equipment and tools and safety regulations used in various skilled building maintenance activities.
Knowledge of construction level math skills.
Skills for reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, instructions, and blueprints.
Ability to maintain a valid driver license and current statutory limits of auto insurance.
Ability to use common computer applications and be trained for work related programs.
Ability to operate power and hand tools correctly and effectively.
Ability to use and interpret various gauges and meters used in building maintenance.
