Shelly Pierson Recognized as CHN's June 2023 Service Excellence Superstar!

Congratulations to Shelly Pierson for being selected as CHN's June 2023 Service Excellence Superstar! It's clear from the nomination by emergency department RN Amber Sutter that Shelly is a dedicated and compassionate individual who goes above and beyond to care for our patients.

Shelly's actions exemplify the qualities of integrity, stewardship, teamwork, excellence, and compassion. After the patient was sent to the Emergency Department at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach from Curry Family Medical, CHN's clinic in Port Orford, Shelly, going above and beyond her role as a Patient Access Specialist, went there to check on our patient and return the purse the patient had left behind. In doing so, she discovered that the patient had no transportation home and was anxious to return home to care for a family member.

Undeterred, Shelly not only returned the patient's purse but also personally drove her back home to Port Orford, even though Shelly lives in Gold Beach and it meant a round trip of almost 60 miles after a long day at work.

By taking the initiative and showing such care and concern for our patient's well-being, Shelly demonstrated excellence in her role. Her act of kindness, which involved returning the patient's purse and personally driving her back home, went above and beyond expectations and undoubtedly made a significant positive impact on the patient's life.

Shelly's nomination is a testament to her outstanding dedication to caring for the needs of our patients and her commitment to making a difference in their lives. Her actions reflect the best qualities of a healthcare professional, and she is truly deserving of the recognition and appreciation as the Service Excellence Superstar for June 2023.
