This month I have some good news and some not so good news.
Let’s start with the good news first. We have two new providers joining our network; Karen Morrow, FNP is a nurse practitioner, who specializes in family and pediatric medicine. She joins us from Crescent City where she has an established practice.
Greg Tjossem, MD is a Family Practice doctor joining us from Iowa. Both will start in January and provide much needed capacity in Brookings.
How many hours of sleep did you get last night? Our alarm clocks jolt us awake before the sun is up in the mornings, and parents and children alike often do not find themselves drifting off to sleep until late into the night. Many high school students and their parents stumble out the door each morning with only 5 or 6 hours of sleep to get them through the day. They are bleary-eyed and only partially coherent. But that’s what coffee is for, right? Wrong.
We are community people providing quality health care. We are publicly owned and not-for-profit. The health care dollars that are spent here, stay here - in our community.
Here you'll find an extensive range of health care services. Our compassionate providers, nurses and staff can care for your entire family - from newborns to grandparents. We have worked diligently to recruit highly qualified providers who can provide you with a broad scope of services and expertise that might not otherwise be available without traveling to larger, more distant cities. In addition to excellent medical care you'll find support groups, diabetic education, health education and programs including a Cardiac Health Center and a Coumadin Clinic.
Any dollars earned by Curry Health Network are reinvested to recruit high-quality medical professionals and to provide our community with the latest health care technologies and services.
Curry Health Network consists of a hospital (Curry General Hospital) and a series of clinics:
We're pleased to offer a brand new comfortable, modern and well-equipped clinic setting at the new Curry Medical Center.
Curry Health Network has provided care in Brookings since the early 1970's. As our communities have grown, we have grown too. We needed a state-of-the-art facility to better serve and meet the needs of our patients in the Brookings-Harbor area.
The new vision for healthcare in Brookings and Harbor is now a reality.
What we have now in this innovative building are all the services in demand in Brookings and Harbor. There is convenient access to primary care, with five family practice and internal medicine providers to choose from. There is convenient access to the most frequently needed specialty care; Obstetrics and Gynecology, General and Orthopedic surgeons, Urology, Neurology, and Cardiology.
We have an imaging center that offers the broadest range of services; eight specialized modalities to help with diagnostic imaging, X-Ray, CT, MRI, digital mammography, bone densitometry, nuclear medicine, ultrasound and echocardiography.
A critical feature is the extensive use of technology. All imaging modalities are digital and the images can be sent electronically to any specialist, anywhere. Our radiologists can read the studies and report almost instantaneously. The use of the Holigic digital mammography system brings a level of comfort for the patient that is not available on the south coast, anywhere. Lab results can be emailed to any physician, anywhere.
We invite you to take advantage of the newest facility and technologies in health care available at Curry Medical Center.
